Produce Yourself is a quick and dirty workshop that goes through the process and challenges of finding your audience, getting them to the theatre and keeping them connected long after the lights go down.

After all, producing live theatre isn't just about putting on a good show. It's about generating buzz and knowing how to sell your wares so that you can keep on creating the way you want to create.  Making your work commercially successful doesn’t mean you have to compromise your vision; rather, you simply have to learn how to frame your vision in such a way that everyone can understand it.

Over the course of this workshop, we will:

- Break down your creative concept and find the pieces that you can use to connect to new types of audiences as we work together to reshape how you communicate and who you communicate with.
- Go through processes specific to the Chicago market as we create an eight week marketing plan that follows you from initial marketing through the show’s run and extends to follow-up marketing.
- Create a network of fellow producers, develop co-promotion ideas, and find out how to share audiences .
- Pick the brains of some special guest producers to figure out what has worked, what still works and what might work in the Chicago arts community.
- Emerge with a clear vision, message and process for your theatrical project that you can apply to future productions.

Produce Yourself is designed to be an intensive, practical boost for your show, whether you're still trying to come up with an idea, you're in the middle of rehearsals or you've just finished a run and aren't sure what to do next.  There's enough risk in producing independent theatre and putting your work in front of the world for all to see…let us help you take a bit of that stress off and make sure that you're putting your best foot forward as you Produce Yourself.
